On 21/10/2021. Residents of Plot 10 Langata were ambushed by a private developer who demolished their homes, the incident happened at 11pm at night and more than 2,000 people were affected. A heavy police presence was at the scene. In 2011 plot 10 was demolished by an invisible ’private developer’ who hid behind the Kenya Prison. We the housing coalition undertook robust advocacy together with grassroot housing right activists Rapid Response Team (RRT). This scared off the `private developer’. The community rebuilt and settled. There followed a few political declarations here and there by the politicians. he NMS director visited the site, where he made an address saying that the purported owners of the land were land grabbers and would not be allowed to develop the property further.
