Brief narrative

On 11 October 2021, Residents of Mukuru Kwa Njenga were woken by loud noise of bulldozers. According to former Embakasi MP Irshad Sumra 40,000 have been left with nowhere to lay their heads even as the cold season persists. It’s such a pathetic situation for mukuru Kwa njenga slum residents for the past one week the houses are being demolished and we are appealing to well-wishers to come forward to donate food, milk bread, blankets as over 40,000 people have been rendered homeless, Sumra said. Residents of Mukuru Kwa Njenga slums have condemned the ongoing demolitions, calling for relevant authority intervention. In the past week, several houses have been demolished rendering thousands of families homeless.
