On Monday afternoon, heavily armed individuals clashed at Bel-Air and Delmas 2, firing automatic guns and setting fire to houses according to witnesses. A wind of panic pushed several hundred residents to flee the area to take refuge in the Champs de Mars. The causes of these clashes remain unknown for the moment Local residents who fled the area of the shootings pointed to the leader of the Delmas 6 gang, Chérisier aka Barbecue while others accuse the federation of G-9 gangs and mention many wounded and dead... Note that the police did not intervene during this deadly firefight. Reacting to what could well be another massacre if the testimonies are confirmed, President Jovenel Moïse said on his Twitter account on Monday, I strongly condemn the acts of violence that took place in Bel-air today. The PNH, through the Prime Minister, has already received formal instructions to curb this escalation of violence and put in confidence the population plunged in a terrifying trauma TB/ iciHaiti
