Brief narrative

Bukasa Dry Land Port: In a court case [https://www.newvision.co.ug/new_vision/news/1449699/court-verifies-bukasa-kirinya-claimants] in the Kampala-Jinja Express Highway case, 2,000 residents from Bukasa-Kirinya sued NEMA in the High Court in 2017, accusing it of illegally evicting them from their land without compensation or an alternative settlement is also linked to the dry land port [https://www.monitor.co.ug/News/National/Nema-okays-Kampala-port-construction/688334-4997752-opjkdu/index.html]. As of February 2019 the court is yet to settle the matter. The government has implemented a Resettlement Action Plan that will compensate 2,780 people affected by the port [https://ugandaradionetwork.com/story/bukasa-inland-port-works-ministry-prepares-ugx-29b-to-compensate-paps-1]. Reports state that 465–500 acres of land are affected, and 113,000 settlers are on the land (Uganda Radio Network 10.02.2019). Is the issue that there people who are being evicted that will not receive compensation? Or are people not satisfied with the compensation?
