Footage from the occupied West Bank city of Hebron shows Israel installing mobile housing units in the center of al-Khalil (Hebron) to install a new wave of Israeli settlers in the part of the city designated under Oslo agreements as within Palestinian Authority jurisdiction.
The trucks transporting the housing units were accompanied by Israeli military vehicles.
More news as it develops. This was the first time this has happened in Hebron, auguring new violence and settler aggression on the Indigenous Palestinian residents.
On 17 January 1997, Israel and the Palestinian Authority signed the Hebron Protocol, partially redeploying Israeli military occupation forces from the city. Under the agreement, Hebron was divided into two areas: H1 and H2. Control of H1 reverted to the Palestinian Authority’s jurisdiction, and H2 remained under Israeli military control indefinitely.
