USA/Israel Target Nearly 20K Homes in Iran

More than 24,000 civilian units have been damaged across various sectors in Iran, including 19,775 residential units, the head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society said today, according to IRNA. The home destruction affects and estimated 98,775 Iranians.

It added that 69 schools were damaged and 195 teachers and students were injured.

US and Israeli strikes also damaged 16 Red Crescent, along with 21 rescue and relief vehicles and 19 ambulances.

Referring to the latest recorded statistics, Pirhossein Kolivand, head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, stated: So far, 24,531 civilian units have been damaged in various sectors, of which 19,775 are residences.

According to IRNA, he added: “This statistic shows that a significant portion of the damage has directly affected people`s homes and lives, while 4,511 commercial units have also been damaged, which could have significant economic and livelihood consequences for the residents of these areas.”

Referring to the damage to health infrastructure, he continued: 160 medical, pharmaceutical, health and emergency centers have also been damaged during these incidents; centers that are always on the front lines of providing medical services and saving patients` lives.

The head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society expressed regret over the damage caused to the country`s education sector and stated: “According to reports received, 69 schools affiliated with education have been damaged, and 154 people have been martyred and 195 teachers and students have been injured as a result of these incidents; statistics that indicate the depth of the impact of this incident on the country`s educational community.”

Kolivand also reported on the damage caused to relief infrastructure, adding: "16 Red Crescent centers have been damaged, and 21 rescue and relief vehicles, along with 19 Red Crescent and emergency ambulances, have also been damaged."

He emphasized: "During the relief operations, seven relief workers in the cities of Tehran, Mahabad, and Khomein were injured."

The head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society continued by referring to the sacrifice of the relief workers and stated: “In these incidents, one of the dedicated Red Crescent rescue workers, Hamid Reza Jahanbakhsh from Isfahan Province, was martyred.” A rescuer who sacrificed his life in the service and saving the lives of his fellow countrymen.

He also referred to the damage caused to the country`s medical community, saying that 12 medical personnel were martyred and 78 others were injured during these incidents.

Kolivand continued by referring to the attacks on some vital infrastructure, including fuel reserves in Tehran and several other cities in the country, and emphasized that in addition to causing damage to infrastructure, these actions could also have consequences for urban services and relief efforts, and that relief and operational teams are on full alert to manage possible consequences.

Emphasizing the continuation of relief operations and damage assessment, Kolivand noted: “The Red Crescent Society is present with all its might alongside the affected people, and relief and operational teams across the country are providing services and assistance to alleviate some of the people`s suffering.”
