Program, Actions and Services

The years of HIC and its Housing and Land Rights Network operations have demonstrated that the members constitute the main asset and resource of the Coalition and Network. Meanwhile, the diversity and decentralization of the membership lie at the heart of programming challenges and opportunities. The HLRN Middle East/North Africa (MENA) Program reflects those membership qualities, and has emerged from a process of periodic strategic planning and consultation with HLRN members by various means. HLRN's MENA regional center operates so as to respond to member demands and initiative, as well as to catalyze member action and cooperation.

HLRN members and representatives share a vision of "a place to live and flourish in peace and dignity for all"

Our shared mission is "to reach the fuller realization of human dignity and human development toward respect, defense, promotion and fulfillment of the human right to adequate housing and land"

Translating this vision and mission into a regional program of interrelated and mutually supporting goals, HLRN manages engages members in the MENA region in activities consolidated into three manageable clusters (of equal importance and priority) to carry out:

1. Network, Coalition, and alliance development and maintenance;
2. Empowerment and capacity building to ensure the human right to adequate housing (HRAH);
3. Advocacy at all levels (multilateral, regional, national and local).

Within each of these three goals, HLRN's MENA Program pursues related objectives in order effort to achieve the goals. The resulting operational plan and program of activities elaborate the means of implementing the objectives.

Goal 1 | Goal 2 | Goal 3
